Nene Duran had a pleasant surprise on September 20 when Dagirls gatecrashed her party (it was to be celebrated with her family only) and greeted her on her *bleep*th birthday. Dagirls well-wishers included Gilda Bantawig, Glynda Dumanig, Sonia Garcia-Lauzon, Malou Dypiangco, Cef Graciosa.

Our honorary Kabatch Shirley Villamor-Gervacio attended the San Pedro College nursing alumni homecoming in Davao City after which she made a special sidetrip to Gensan on to host a get-together with her Dagirls Kabatch at Sarangani Highlands on August 23. The get-together started with a sumptuous dinner while Dagirls updated each other. The dinner featured grilled tuna belly and panga, crispy tuna buntot, crispy pata, pomelo shrimps, and veggies. Shirley regaled Dagirls with her life in the USA. Later that night, Dagirls had a grand fun time taking souvenir shots at the lovely landscaped grounds of Sarangani Highlands.
Thanks to Ebing Olarte for letting us use her car and to her son, Dowie for driving us to and from the venue. Thanks also to Vir and Sonia Lauzon for the ride. :)

Meet our honorary Kabatch Shirley Villamor-Gervacio

Through my Multiply page, I was able to meet Shirley Villamor-Gervacio. She said she had Helen Betonio, Angelina Catapang and others among her classmates at ND Dadiangas Girls High School Department. However, she graduated high school from Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (now Ramon Magsaysay Memorial College). She took up BS Nursing at San Pedro College in Davao City. However because of citizenship issues, she was not given her nursing license. Read her biography by clicking on her Multiply page: http://wahine1956.multiply.com/journal.

She also mentioned that her best friend in elementary was Bessie Deocampo. I informed her about the death of Bessie's mama and she requested me to relay her condolences to Bessie.

Now based in California, Shirley just finished her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. She is contemplating on a teaching stint there or probably in the Philippines.

She plans to visit the Philippines in August for the 30th homecoming of her batch in San Pedro College. Maybe she can make a sidetrip here to renew her ties and friendships with our Kabatch.

ND Girls Culmination

The 50 years of the presence of the Dominican Sisters in General Santos City was culminated in a simple affair on April 25 at the new site of ND of General Santos City in San Isidro, Lagao.

Sr. Virgie Balayon, OP, Principal welcomes the Alumni to the said affair.

Dominican Sisters' 50th Year in Gensan and ND Gensan Alumni Homecoming

In celebration for the 50th year of the Dominican Sisters in Gensan (culmination will be in May this year) and the annual alumni homecoming of ND of General Santos City on December 30, NDDFG Batch '73 Golden Girls made their presence felt during the said event.

ND of Gensan now merges the former NDDFG and NDLFG into one school. ND-GSC also plans to offer collegiate course next school year. Gilda & Glyn with Sister Estelita Carbon, OPSr. Estelita was among those who shared lunch with the Golden Girls.
